The spectral coverage of the current filter-wheel radiometer (GOES-8 Sounder Bands, 10km spatial resolution) and a number of high-spectral resolution instruments, including the HES (4~10km spatial resolution), 2-band HES (4~10km spatial resolution, example 1 in the figure) and 3-band HES (4~10km spatial resolution, example 2 in the figure). In general, the entire portion of the infrared spectrum covered by the current sounder at low spectral resolutions (15 to 100 cm^-1) will be covered by the HES (with spectral resolutions between 0.625 and 2.5 cm^-1).
