Accomplishments in FY05

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES IN FY05

CIMSS scientists proposed the following activities in FY05:

1. Study the impact of ABI instrument refinement and changes on the science products and as well additional simulations.
2. Continue to do trade-off studies on HES instrument design.
3. Provide linkage between the precision of science products and HES instrument requirements/specifications.
4. Continue to investigate vertical and spatial resolutions achievable from HES/ABI.
5. Synergistic use of HES/ABI for better cloud/atmosphere information based on the assumptions of the HES/ABI system.
6. Continue to evaluate the ABI performance with comparison of current imaging systems such as current GOES imager, MSG, AVHRR, and MODIS.
