Margaret Mooney, Education & Public Outreach Director
Margaret Mooney is the Education and Public Outreach lead at CIMSS. As a former National Weather Service meteorologist, Margaret has ample experience working with formal and informal audiences, leveraging early career experience with a degree in public policy to promote weather and climate education as avenues towards stewardship and sustainability. Margaret is active in several education communities, including NOAA Climate Stewards, NASA Initiatives in Climate Education, the GOES-R Education Proving Ground, the Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) and the Wisconsin Initiative for Climate Change Impacts (WICCI).

Maria Vasys, Education and Outreach Specialist
Maria Vasys provides critical coordination and logistical support for education, training, and public outreach at CIMSS. Maria routinely leads organizational efforts related to international conferences and educational workshops which includes creation and maintenance of conference websites, developing promotional materials, compiling manuscripts, and assisting with poster preparations. Maria’s efforts support CIMSS/SSEC connections with Federal agencies as well as collaborations and partnerships across the broader atmospheric science community.

Steve Ackerman, Weather Guy
Steve Ackerman is renown for his contributions in research, education and climate change communications. Along with being the previous Director of CIMSS (for 2 decades!) Steve is a Professor of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the UW-Madison. Steve is also one of the Weather Guys, a popular and lively program on Wisconsin Public Radio (and weekly column in the Wisconsin State Journal) where he and Professor Jon Martin answer questions about weather and climate. More recently, Steve also serves as the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Aiden Dalby, Student intern
Aiden plays a pivotal role in the CIMSS Student workshop serving as a chaperone and social coordinator. He’s also a member of the UW Marching Band!
