CIMSS Review 2024

Since 1980 the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have partnered through the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies to advance satellite-based weather, environmental, and climate research. During that time, CIMSS has served NOAA and the UW to meet society’s needs for timely, accurate, and reliable satellite data to support short term weather forecasting, identify atmospheric hazards, and monitor the Earth-atmosphere system. Our research has led to significant advances in satellite meteorological applications that are improving forecasts and climate trend analyses.
Purpose of the Review
Pursuant to NOAA Policy NAO 216-107A, Section 4,
The Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies has entered into the period for a CI Renewal Review. Supporting this process, this webpage provides relevant documentation, links to research reports, and other materials needed for the external review panel to appropriately assess performance metrics pursuant to the Renewal Review.
