The picture of the week is being selected by the honor students in the class and myself.
This week the winner is Joanna Gurstell for her picture of a rainbow in Colorado. We will be discuss the formation of a rainbow this week. Notice the order of the colors of both the primary and secondary rainbow. Also notice the brightness of the sky inside and outside the primary rainbow. Notice the direction of the shadows cast by the trees. This tells you that the sun was at Joanna's back! You should be able to tell which direction is north by both the shadows and the clump of trees that grow on one side of the hill but not the other.
