Remote Sensing  » Spatial Analysis

Thousands of visually striking satellite images are available over the web. Observations acquired by instruments on a satellite platform are more than mere images, however, they provide information about Earth. The ability to evaluate and analyze spatial information is critical to understanding and interpreting earth system concepts.

To maximize the benefits of environmental measurements obtained by satellites, this module will explore and explain some basic spatial analysis concepts, including image resolution, map contouring, color-coding of surfaces, and the super positioning of layers of information on a single map.

In this lesson you will learn:

  • Spatial analysis basics
  • Map contouring
