Meteorology » VISITview lesson

The Meteorology VISITview teletraining session is scheduled for Monday November 26th, beginning at
6:30pm EST,
5:30pm CST,
4:30pm MST,
and 3:30pm PDT.
You can dial in and log on as early as 20 minutes after the hour.
The phone number and password will be distributed by e-mail Monday morning.

You need to download the meteorology VISITview files onto your computer to participate interactively in this lesson. You will be downloading a self-extracting (.exe) file which are easiest to manage if you put them in a separate folder.
Start by creating a separate folder at a convenient location on your computer. After you download the file which will be called MeteorologyVV.exe into that folder, you can extract the individual slides simply by by clicking on the executable file.

Once you've created a folder, click here to download the Meteorology VISITview lesson.
Note: depending on your connection, it may take a few minutes to download

After the MeteorologyVV.exe is in your folder, click on it. This will open a new window;  replace any files that are in the folder if prompted.

FOR PC's: When the self-extracting zip file has expanded, you will have a folder full of files, including visit.bat and visitlocal.bat.
Prior to the teletraining you can use visitlocal.bat to view the slides and familiarize yourself with the training topic.

FOR MAC's: You must be running os/x for this to work on a mac.
The .exe file is actually mostly a .zip file.  Unravel the zip file by entering 'unzip MeteorologyVV.exe' at a unix prompt in a terminal window after downloading the file to a separate folder, from either the clickable link or the ftp site.
When it's time to start, you can look at the lesson beforehand by typing 'sh visitlocal.sh' at a unix prompt in a terminal window.

The teletraining starts at 5:30 CST (3:30 PDT) on November 26th. You should "launch" your visitview lesson at that time by double-clicking the visit.bat icon.  Note that internet access is required during the session for the instructor to advance frames or to show annotations, etc.
