Accessing PATMOS-x Data

The full near real-time PATMOS-x/AVHRR cloud climatology spanning 1979 – present is archived at the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) as part of the operational climate data record (CDR) program. If you are interested in the entire record or large periods of global data it is strongly recommended that you request the data at the site below:NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information CDR Site

The CIMSS Climate Data Portal (CDP) provides access to spatial subsets of the PATMOS-x AVHRR record, PATMOS-x products derived from other sensors (e.g. VIIRS, MODIS, GOES), and other climatogical records developed at CIMSS. There are also a limited number of data sets provided for different sensors and spatial domains in the Level-2b hdf format. Direct access to this data is available via ftp from ftp.ssec.wisc.edu/pub/patmosx/data/hdf/level2b.
