CSPP Advanced Clear-Sky Processor for Oceans (ACSPO) Software Version 1.1 Release and Patch

We are pleased to announce an update to the Community Satellite Processing Package (CSPP) release of the NOAA/STAR Advanced Clear-Sky Processor for Oceans (ACSPO) for retrieving sea surface temperature from direct broadcast (DB) AVHRR, MODIS and VIIRS sensor data records (SDRs).
ACSPO development is led by Alexander Ignatov of the NOAA/NESDIS Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR), in conjunction with John Sapper of the NOAA/NESDIS Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO). This CSPP release was created in close collaboration with John Stroup at STAR.
This CSPP release (CSPP_ACSPO v1.1) provides ACSPO version 2.40, adapted and tested for operation in a real-time direct broadcast environment. The software contains binary executable files and supporting static data files, as well as input and output files for verification of a successful installation.

What is new in CSPP_ACSPO v1.1?
Required dynamic Canadian Meteorological Center (CMC) 0.2 degree global sea surface temperature analysis files have been discontinued and replaced by 0.1 degree files. This version (v1.1.2) includes a patch to default to use the new 0.1 degree files, but a runtime option that allows use of the 0.2 degree files for historical (prior to 1 January 2017) data processing. If you have already installed ACSPO version 1.1, then your software only needs to be patched. Follow the instructions in the Installation Guide found at the CSPP Download Page.
- Improvements to the lftp ancillary file download settings that make it more robust.
System requirements for the CSPP_ACSPO v1.1 software are as follows:
- Ability to handle both types of VIIRS moderate resolution geolocation input, i.e., GMODO and GMTCO (terrain-corrected),
- File name updates (i.e., corrected GDS2 file names for AVHRR and MODIS; additional flexibility for how to set the time stamps fields in the file names),
- Significant upgrades to the sensor-specific error statistics (SSES) algorithm,
- De-striping of VIIRS SDR and MODIS L1B IR data.

The CSPP ACSPO software generates two NetCDF4 output product files, which contain similar information.
The two files are a result of continuing a legacy format,
and the addition of a GSD2 format, following a set of conventions specified by the Group for High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature (GHRSST).
Complete installation, execution and product information is included with the release.
