Wild Weather

Beginning of Module

Created by UW-Madison, 2002

Jeanne showed up on satellite images on September 13th over the tropical Atlantic Ocean and became a Hurricane on September 20th just east of the Bahamas.

Following a similar path to hurricane Frances, Jeanne made landfall on the east coast of Florida near Stuart as a category 3 hurricane on September 25th. Jeanne weakened over central Florida while turning northward and was tracked by satellites all the way up to Nova Scotia.

Two deaths were reported in Florida due to Jeanne but torrential rains and flooding in Haiti resulted in over 2000 deaths there.
