Jeju Island is the largest island off the coast of the Korean Peninsula, and the main island of Jeju Province of South Korea. The island lies in the Korea Strait. Jeju Island is a popular vacation destination and also is popular with honeymooners. It features the dormant volcano Hallasan, a semi-tropical forested national park, a coastline with waterfalls, and the longest lava tube in the world.

Getting there

The Maison Glad Jeju grounds are located in the north-central portion of the island, near the Jeju International Airport. There are two main ways to get to the hotel. The first is from Seoul Incheon Airport to Jeju International Airport. The flights to Jeju are available mainly from the Gimpo Domestic Airport located about 40 km from the Seoul Incheon International Airport. From Gimpo Domestic airport to Jeju International Airport you can travel with Korean Air or Asiana Airline. There are flights every 30 minutes and the flight takes an hour.

To get to Gimpo Airport from Incheon Airport you can use the Seoul Metro (AREX Express) or Airport limousine buses (bus stop 3B). The bus runs every 20 minutes and it takes about 40 minutes (up to 60 minutes, depending on the traffic) to get to Gimpo Airport. There are direct flights to Jeju international Airport from Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenyang and so on.

Local Transfer

The Maison Glad hotel can be reached from the Jeju International Airport as follows: by taxi (5,000 KRW) or by the hotel shuttle bus which stops at parking lot number C10, 11 at the airport.

Currency

The currency of South Korea is the South Korean Won (KRW) [W 1000 = USD $0.90/ EUR0.76 (as of 16 November 2017, OANDA)]. Major credit cards are accepted almost everywhere.

Climate

April is classified as the spring season in Korea. Temperatures on Jeju Island in April are: Mean 13.8 C (56.8 F), the Maximum may be 17.5 C (63.5 F) and the Minimum may be 10.2 C (50.4 F).

Access to internet and email

Wireless Internet access is available in all guest rooms, and will be available within the main meeting venue.

Wednesday afternoon activity

It is traditional as part of the International Winds Workshops to participate in a group activity on the Wednesday afternoon. We are currently discussing available options.
