Evidence of elongated convective banding (oriented southwest to northeast) could be seen forming near the Illinois/Wisconsin border after about 20:00 UTC on 26 January 1996. Note the wavy texture and subtle shadowing along the tops of these banded features, which enhanced snowfall rates as they moved across southern Wisconsin.
