Arctic Cold Front Moves South Across Texas Panhandle Region
(- Animation -)
Surface wind barbs show that the flow becomes northeasterly behind the cold front. The thin dark (warm/dry) band that moves south-southwestward along with the surface cold front is a mid-tropospheric "gravity wave" which follows the motion of the relatively shallow Arctic cold front at the surface.
