This loop of GOES-8 imager visible channel shows the development of convection along and east of the surface dry line that was moving eastward into Wisconsin and Illinois on 08 March 2000. The satellite was placed into Rapid Scan Operations mode at 21:26 UTC, allowing imagery every 5 to 10 minutes during this event. The supercell convection that produced the F1 tornado at Milwaukee (station ID = KMKE) developed in northern Illinois and then moved northeastward ahead of the dry line into southern Wisconsin. This visible loop ends at 23:25 UTC due to sunset...the tornado occurred about an hour late, around 00:14 UTC.
