This loop of GOES-8 imager 10.7 micrometer IR shows the development of convection along and east of the surface dry line that was moving eastward into Wisconsin and Illinois on 08 March 2000. The satellite was placed into Rapid Scan Operations mode at 21:26 UTC, allowing imagery every 5 to 10 minutes during this event. The supercell convection that produced the F1 tornado at Milwaukee (station ID = KMKE) developed in northern Illinois and then moved northeastward ahead of the dry line into southern Wisconsin. The tornado occurred around 00:14 UTC.
