This loop of GOES-8 imager 6.7 micrometer IR ("water vapor") imagery shows the mid-level dry slot (dark/warm enhancement) moving eastward into Wisconsin and Illinois on 08 March 2000. This dry air at mid levels helped to de-stabilize the atmosphere, aiding convective development during the afternoon hours.
