GOES-10 0.65 micron visible imagery (from the GOES-10 Science and Operations Test) shows the southeastward progression of a gravity wave train along the leading edge of an advancing cold front. Surface winds changed from southeasterly at 5-10 knots ahead of the waves to northwesterly at 10-30 knots as the feature passed through the extreme southern counties of Texas and adjacent parts of northern Mexico.

Several shallow gravity waves can also be seen propagating northeastward through the stratocumulus clouds over the western Gulf of Mexico.
