The COMET Satellite Meteorology course web pages provided by
the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS)

These pages contain the materials traditionally presented by CIMSS staff and associates for two of the lectures during the two-week classroom courses on Satellite Meteorology offered by COMET for NWS forecasters. One lecture explains the basic principles and characteristics of radiative transfer in the atmosphere, while the second shows the retrieval process, products, and applications available with sounding instruments on board meteorological satellites.
