Mission: Ferry ER-2 with instrumentation to San Antonio, TX for TX-2002 field program.

Mission Objectives

Test MAS, NAST-I, CPL instruments and get ER-2 aircraft to San Antonio in readiness for TX-2002.

Flight Summary

Take-off was at 1800 UTC.  ER-2 landed at 2110 UTC.

ER-2 flew from Dryden where skis were cloudy through AZ and NM into TX with mostly clear skies the whole way.

The ER-2 made it to San Antonio on schedule. Clear skies along entire route

Instrument Status

• Modis Airborne Simulator (MAS): Operated. Port 1 failure.
• NPOESS Atmospheric Sounder Testbed (NAST-I): Operated. Good data.
• Cloud Physics Lidar (CPL): Operated. Data system failure.
• Scanner High-Resolution Interferometer Sounder (SHIS): Not on plane.
• VIS video camera: Operated.  Good video collected.
• M/VIS mini video camera: Operated.  Good video collected.
• RC-10 Camera: Not operated..

Additional Pilot Notes:.Aircraft is healthy.  Some difficulty with ATC on descent.
