{"id":8453,"date":"2011-07-07T23:59:36","date_gmt":"2011-07-07T23:59:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/?p=8453"},"modified":"2011-07-09T21:58:36","modified_gmt":"2011-07-09T21:58:36","slug":"5-years-of-modis-images-and-products-in-awips","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/8453","title":{"rendered":"5 years of MODIS images and products in AWIPS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov\/dailywxmap\/index_20110707.html\">07 July 2011<\/a><\/strong> marks the 5 year anniversary of CIMSS providing <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/~jordang\/awips-modis\/index.html\">MODIS images and products<\/a><\/strong> for National Weather Service (NWS) forecast offices to add to their local AWIPS workstations <em>(via LDM subscription)<\/em>. This important &#8220;Research to Operations&#8221; effort has been a cornerstone of the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes_r\/proving-ground.html\">GOES-R Proving Ground<\/a><\/strong> project. As of July 2011, CIMSS has provided experimental MODIS imagery in real-time to 70 NWS sites across the US.
