This product is created by combining data from 5 of the currently operational geostationary orbiting meteorological satellites (GOES-East at 75\u00c2\u00ba West longitude, GOES-West at 135\u00c2\u00ba West longitude, Meteosat at 0\u00c2\u00ba longitude, Meteosat at 63\u00c2\u00ba East longitude, and MTSAT at 145\u00c2\u00ba East longitude), polar orbiting satellites, and a topographic background map of the Earth. The spinning globe product is created every 3 hours, and is available for either the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/data\/globe\/spincg.html\">latest time period<\/a><\/strong> or an <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/data\/globe\/cldspin.html\">animation covering the last 3 weeks<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2011\/04\/110422_arctic_winds_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"MODIS IR image atmospheric motion vectors over the Arctic region\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2011\/04\/110422_arctic_winds_anim.gif\" title=\"MODIS IR image atmospheric motion vectors over the Arctic region\" width=\"480\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">MODIS IR image atmospheric motion vectors over the Arctic region<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Polar-orbiting satellites such as the NASA Terra and Aqua platforms also provide us with valuable information over the polar regions of the Earth (which are not sampled well by geostationary satellites, due to the very large viewing angles).
