Mesovortices were evident within the eye &#8212; and periodic swirls of mid- to upper-level cloud material appeared to be shedding from the inner edge of the eyewall, suggesting that the mesovortex circulations (which are normally rather shallow) were fairly deep in this case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video aligncenter\"><video autoplay controls loop muted src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2026\/07\/HIM09_IR_DOLPHIN_29JUL2026_loop_HIMAWARI-9_2026210_185215_2026211_071215.mp4\" playsinline><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>2.5-minute Himawari-9 Infrared Window images, from 1852 UTC on 29 July to 0712 UTC on 30 July<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov\/socd\/mecb\/sar\/sarwinds_tropical.php?year=2026&amp;storm=WP122026_DOLPHIN\">Synthetic Aperture Radar<\/a><\/strong> (SAR) imagery <strong><em>(below)<\/em><\/strong> from around the beginning and ending times of the Himawari-9 animations displayed an apparent break in the eyewall, with hints of narrow wind features that were similar in appearance to the cloud filaments seen in Himawari images.
