Low-altitude mesovorticies were very apparent within the eye &#8212; and GLM Flash Points depicted intermittent lightning activity within the eyewall of the hurricane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The corresponding 1-minute GOES-19 Infrared Window images <strong><em>(below)<\/em><\/strong> displayed cloud-top infrared brightness temperatures as cold as -75 to -80 C surrounding the eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video aligncenter\"><video autoplay controls loop muted src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2026\/07\/260726_g19_ir_glm_Genevieve.mov\" playsinline><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>1-minute GOES-19 Infrared Window images with plots of GLM Flash Points, from 1701 UTC on 26 July to 0000 UTC on 27 July<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Genevieve was moving through an environment of favorably-low <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2026\/07\/260726_g19_ir_0000utcShear.gif\">deep-layer wind shear<\/a><\/strong>, and traversing <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2026\/07\/260726_sst_Genevieve.gif\">warm water<\/a><\/strong>.
