Pulses of overshooting tops exhibited infrared brightness temperatures in the -75 to -80 C range (brighter white pixels). 1-minute <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/spacesegment\/glm.html\">GLM<\/a><\/strong> Flash Points displayed the lightning activity associated with deep convection near and south of the center of circulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1-minute GOES-19 Visible images <strong><em>(below)<\/em><\/strong> revealed that Bertha&#8217;s low-level circulation center (LLCC) remained partially to fully exposed during the day &#8212; since the tropical storm was moving through an environment characterized by high values of northeasterly deep-layer wind shear (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2026\/07\/260721_g19_ir_1500utcShear_anim.gif\">1500 UTC<\/a><\/strong> | <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2026\/07\/260721_g19_ir_2100utcShear_anim.gif\">2100 UTC<\/a><\/strong>), which acted to displace most of the deep convection south of the LLCC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video aligncenter\"><video autoplay controls loop muted src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2026\/07\/260721_g19_vis_Bertha.mp4\" playsinline><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>1-minute GOES-19 Visible images and GLM Flash Points, from 1141 UTC on 21 July to 0000 UTC on 22 July<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>===== 22 July Update =====<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video aligncenter\"><video autoplay controls loop muted src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2026\/07\/260722_g19_vis_ir_Bertha_landfall.mp4\" playsinline><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>1-minute GOES-19 Visible images (left) and Infrared Window images (right), from 1131-2100 UTC on 22 July<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1-minute GOES-19 Visible and Infrared Window images <strong>(<em>above)<\/em><\/strong> showed that the fully-exposed eye of Tropical Storm Bertha moved inland across southeastern Louisiana after making landfall at 1900 UTC on 22 July. A small convective burst developed just south of the eye as Bertha moved inland.
