Paula briefly exhibited an eye during the morning hours on 1-km resolution GOES-15 0.63 \u00c2\u00b5m visible channel imagery <em><strong>(above)<\/strong><\/em> and on 4-km resolution GOES-15 10.7 \u00c2\u00b5m IR channel imagery<em><strong> (below)<\/strong><\/em>. At 15:45 UTC,\u00c2\u00a0 <a title=\"ASCAT scatterometer winds\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2010\/10\/Scat_Winds_-_10m_20101012_1545.png\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>ASCAT scatterometer winds<\/strong><\/a> were measured at 46 knots\u00c2\u00a0 surrounding the northern periphery of the center of Paula.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2010\/10\/101012_g15_ir4_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"GOES-15 10.7 \u00c2\u00b5m IR images\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2010\/10\/101012_g15_ir4_anim.gif\" alt=\"GOES-15 10.7 \u00c2\u00b5m IR images\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/strong><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-15 10.7 \u00c2\u00b5m IR images<\/p><\/div>\n<p>AWIPS images of the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/rammb.cira.colostate.edu\/training\/visit\/training_sessions\/poes_and_avhrr_satellite_products_in_awips\/\">POES AVHRR<\/a><\/strong> Cloud Top Temperature (CTT), Cloud Top Height (CTH), and Cloud Type products at 18:46 UTC\u00c2\u00a0 <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> showed that the coldest CTT value was -86\u00c2\u00ba C, with a large area of maximum CTH values of 16 km (much of that overshooting the tropopause, as indicated by the violet color enhancement on the Cloud Type product).<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2010\/10\/101012_avhrr_ctt_cth_type_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"POES AVHRR Cloud Top Temperature, Cloud Top Height, and Cloud Type products\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2010\/10\/101012_avhrr_ctt_cth_type_anim.gif\" alt=\"POES AVHRR Cloud Top Temperature, Cloud Top Height, and Cloud Type products\" width=\"480\" height=\"459\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">POES AVHRR Cloud Top Temperature, Cloud Top Height, and Cloud Type products<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tropical Storm Paula formed just off the coast of Honduras on 11 October 2010.
