The pyroCb cloud exhibited cloud-top 10.3 \u00b5m infrared brightness temperatures (IRBTs) in the -40s C (denoted by shades of blue to cyan) \u2014 a necessary condition to be classified as a pyroCb \u2014 beginning at <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2025\/06\/250614_2236utc_goes19_visibleFireMask_infraredWindow_NM_pyroCb.png\"><strong>2236 UTC<\/strong><\/a> on 14 June. This was the first confirmed pyroCb in the US for the 2025 wildfire season.<\/p>\n<p>The coldest pyroCb cloud-top IRBT was -44.71\u00baC at 0021 UTC on 15 June, with a corresponding Cloud Top Height derived product value of 37510.62 ft <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 3034px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2025\/06\/250615_0021utc_goes19_infrared_cloudTopHeight_NM_pyroCb_cursor_sample.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2025\/06\/250615_0021utc_goes19_infrared_cloudTopHeight_NM_pyroCb_cursor_sample.png\" width=\"3024\" height=\"1964\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-19 Clean Infrared Window (10.3 \u00b5m) image with a cursor sample of the coldest cloud-top infrared brightness temperature (white) along with the corresponding Cloud Top Height derived product (green) at 0021 UTC on 15 June [click to enlarge]<\/p><\/div>On rawinsonde data from El Paso, Texas <strong><em>(below)<\/em><\/strong> the air temperature of -44.71\u00baC occurred at an altitude around 11.0 km (36089.2 ft) &#8212;
