The slider above compares True-Color imagery from CSPP Geosphere on <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/04\/goeseast_abi_radf_true_color_night_20250324171020.png\">24 March<\/a> &#8212; long before the rains &#8212; and on the morning of <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/04\/goeseast_abi_radf_true_color_night_20250407134020.png\">7 April 2025<\/a> &#8212; during the floods.  The expansion of the Ohio River, a sinuous brown in the image, is apparent, as is the general greening up of the background as Spring progresses. SAR data can be used to detect floods underneath clouds (or at night) and imagery is available <a href=\"https:\/\/floods.ssec.wisc.edu\/?products=C-band-HH-HV-dual-pol.100,C-band-HH-HV-dual-pol-m.100,C-band-VV-VH-dual-pol.100,C-band-VV-VH-dual-pol-m.100&amp;center=19.559790136497412,-33.57421875000001&amp;zoom=3&amp;width=1630&amp;height=1061&amp;basemap=satellite&amp;labels=terrain&amp;view=leaflet&amp;collection=Flood%20Detection&amp;timeproduct=C-band-VV-VH-dual-pol-m&amp;timespan=-6t&amp;animationspeed=50\">at this RealEarth-powered website<\/a>.  RadarSat imagery from late on 6 April 2025, below, shows the extent of the flooding over southern Illinois and southwestern Indiana. Memphis is at the southern edge of the image, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Memphis,+TN\/@35.1565892,-90.0818729,11z\/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x87d57e1eea439745:0xd193f315601ab6fe!8m2!3d35.1485812!4d-90.0518955!16zL20vMGNfbTM!5m1!1e1?entry=ttu&amp;g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDQwOC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D\">where the Mississippi takes a long and lazy southerly to westerly curve<\/a>.
