There is a decrease in the amount of cold cloud tops associated with the storm over the course of the animation. However, increasing amounts of moisture associated with Hone, depicted below by <a href=\"https:\/\/tropic.ssec.wisc.edu\/real-time\/mtpw2\/product.php?color_type=tpw_nrl_colors&amp;prod=epac&amp;timespan=24hrs&amp;anim=html5\">MIMIC TPW<\/a> fields (that shows Hone near 145<sup>o <\/sup>W, Gilma near 130<sup>o <\/sup>W and a developing tropical wave near 115<sup>o <\/sup>W), means chances of excessive rainfall and flash floods will increase over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/08\/mimictpw_epac_24hending13UTC_23August2024.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"470\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/08\/mimictpw_epac_24hending13UTC_23August2024.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-60640\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Hourly estimates of Total Precipitable Water, 1400 UTC 22 August &#8211; 1300 UTC 23 August 2024 (Click to enlarge)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Interests in Hawai&#8217;i should monitor closely the progress of this storm, both at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/?cpac\">Central Pacific Hurricane Center<\/a>, and at the <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gov\/hfo\">National Weather Service forecast office in Honolulu<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hourly imagery from the CSPP Geosphere website (link), above, shows the progress and evolution of Tropical Storm Hone (upgraded from a tropical depression at 2100 UTC on 22 August) over the central Pacific Ocean.
