The initial GOES-18 fire detection occurred at <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2024\/06\/240615_2104utc_goes18_4panel_Post_Fire_initial_detection.png\"><strong>2104 UTC<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; and the 3.9 \u00b5m Shortwave Infrared brightness temperature first reached 137.88\u00baC (the saturation temperature of GOES-18 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/spacesegment\/abi.html\"><strong>ABI<\/strong><\/a> Band 7 detectors) at <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2024\/06\/240615_2216utc_goes18_4panel_Post_Fire_band07_saturation.png\"><strong>2216 UTC<\/strong><\/a>. The wildfire caused evacuations to be ordered for areas just west of Interstate 5.<\/p>\n<p>1-minute GOES-18 True Color RGB images (<a href=\"https:\/\/geosphere.ssec.wisc.edu\/#playing:true;coordinate:0,0;satellite:goeswest;num_frames:37;\"><strong>source<\/strong><\/a>) from 2130 UTC on 15 June to 0149 UTC on 16 June<strong><em> (below)<\/em><\/strong> showed the transport of dense smoke from the wildfire.
