The peak 3.9 \u00b5m brightness temperature sensed at the eruption site was 134.2\u00baC at 1221 UTC, which was just a few degrees below the 137.88\u00baC saturation temperature of GOES-18 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/spacesegment\/abi.html\"><strong>ABI<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0Band 7 detectors.<\/p>\n<p>GOES-18 <a href=\"https:\/\/rammb2.cira.colostate.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/QuickGuide_GOESR_NtMicroRGB_Final_20191206-1.pdf\"><strong>Nighttime Microphysics RGB<\/strong><\/a> + daytime True Color RGB images from the <a href=\"https:\/\/geosphere.ssec.wisc.edu\/#playing:true;coordinate:-398351,750225;satellite:goeswest;num_frames:40;\"><strong>CSPP GeoSphere<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0site\u00a0<em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> displayed a narrow volcanic plume as it moved southwest; prior to sunrise, the Kilauea eruption thermal anomaly appeared as purple to blue pixels in the Nighttime Microphysics RGB images.
