The <a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/tropic2\/misc\/adt\/info.html\" title=\"CIMSS Advanced Dvorak Technique \" target=\"_blank\"><strong>CIMSS Advanced Dvorak Technique (ADT)<\/strong><\/a> intensity estimate around that time was <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2007\/11\/071115_sidr_adt.gif\" title=\"ADT intensiity estimate of 146 knots\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>146 knots<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2007\/11\/071115_sidr_mimic_anim.gif\" title=\"MIMIC (Animated GIF)\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2007\/11\/071115_sidr_mimic_anim.gif\" title=\"MIMIC (Animated GIF)\" alt=\"MIMIC (Animated GIF)\" align=\"middle\" height=\"361\" width=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Animations of the Morphed Integrated Microwave Imagery at CIMSS (MIMIC) <em><strong>(above) <\/strong><\/em>  showed  Cyclone Sidr as it approached the coast of Bangladesh. This CIMSS MIMIC product was also featured on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.weather.com\/blog\/weather\/?from=footer1&#038;from=footer\" title=\"The Weather Channel blogs\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Weather Channel<\/em><\/a><\/strong> by their tropical weather expert Dr. Steve Lyons <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2007\/11\/mimicOnTWC.jpg\" title=\"MIMIC on The Weather Channel\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2007\/11\/mimicOnTWC.jpg\" title=\"MIMIC on The Weather Channel\" alt=\"MIMIC on The Weather Channel\" align=\"middle\" height=\"365\" width=\"479\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Meteosat-7 IR images <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> indicated  that Cyclone Sidr  made landfall around 14:00 UTC between Calcutta, India <em>(station identifier <strong>VECC<\/strong>)<\/em> and Chittagong, Bangladesh <em>(station identifier <strong>VGEG<\/strong>)<\/em>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2007\/WORLD\/asiapcf\/11\/19\/bangladesh.cyclone\/index.html\" title=\"CNN report on Cyclone Sidr\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Media reports<\/strong><\/a> suggest that the death toll in Bangladesh resulting from Cyclone Sidr is now greater than 3100 people.<P><br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2007\/11\/071115_met7_ir_anim.gif\" title=\"Meteosat-7 IR images (Animated GIF)\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2007\/11\/071115_met7_ir_anim.gif\" title=\"Meteosat-7 IR images (Animated GIF)\" alt=\"Meteosat-7 IR images (Animated GIF)\" align=\"middle\" height=\"363\" width=\"482\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A NOAA-17 InfraRed (IR) image (above) depicted a well-defined eye and eyewall structure associated with Category 4 Cyclone Sidr while it was located over the Bay of Bengal on 15 November 2007.
