Total Precipitable Water imagery (<a href=\"http:\/\/tropic.ssec.wisc.edu\/real-time\/mtpw2\/\">MIMIC TPW)<\/a> conveying data acquired by microwave sensors on polar-orbiting satellites is a key tool for meteorologists tracking atmospheric rivers associated with these storm systems, as seen in this loop from 30 January to 6 February.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"705\" height=\"470\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/02\/AR-2events-CA.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-56949\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Numerous daily rainfall records have been set so far this year.
