Infrared Window (10.3 \u00b5m) images + Total Precipitable Water derived product, from 0000 UTC on 08 January to 0200 UTC on 10 January [click to play animated GIF | <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2024\/01\/240108_240109_goes18_infrared_totalPrecipitableWater_HI_anim.mp4\"><strong>MP4<\/strong><\/a>]<\/p><\/div>\n<p>10-minute Full Disk scan GOES-18 <em>(GOES-West)<\/em>\u00a0\u201cClean\u201d Infrared Window (<a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/OCLOFactSheetPDFs\/ABIQuickGuide_Band13.pdf\"><strong>10.3 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) +\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rammb2.cira.colostate.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/QuickGuide_TPW_20180306-1.pdf\"><strong>Total Precipitable Water<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(TPW) images\u00a0<em><strong>(above)<\/strong><\/em> showed the colder clouds associated with rain showers (with isolated embedded thunderstorms) and the clear-sky TPW field in the vicinity of Hawai`i during the 08-09 January 2024 time period. <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2024\/01\/240108_240109_NPacific_surface_analyses_anim.gif\"><strong>Surface analyses<\/strong><\/a> depicted a cold frontal boundary &#8212; which became more diffuse with time &#8212; that moved southeast across the island chain as a Storm Force Low intensified NW of Hawai`i.<\/p>\n<p>A closer view using 5-minute PACUS Sector GOES-18 Infrared images <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> included 15-minute METAR plots &#8212; which showed periodic moderate to heavy rain; <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2024\/01\/240109_phfo_lsr.text\"><strong>Local Storm Reports<\/strong><\/a> mentioned some flooding (and wind damage).<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 1725px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2024\/01\/240108_240109_goes18_infrared_HI_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2024\/01\/hi_ir-20240109_000117.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1715\" height=\"830\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-18 &#8220;Clean&#8221; The animation below shows seven observations on 8 January 2024, from 07 UTC to 23 UTC.
