A GOES-12 visible image with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esa.int\/esaLP\/SEMBWEG23IE_LPmetop_0.html\" title=\"ASCAT\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>ASCAT<\/strong><\/a> wind data sourced from the <a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/tropic2\/\" title=\"CIMSS Tropical Cyclones site\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>CIMSS Tropical Cyclones<\/strong><\/a> website <em><strong>(above)<\/strong><\/em> suggested that maximum winds were only around 30 knots.<\/p>\n<p>There was  strong southwesterly flow aloft over the developing cyclone with  increasing deep layer wind shear, so the bulk of the deep convection was confined to the northeastern quadrant of TD #15 &#8212; an animation of GOES-12 visible images <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> shows that the low-level center was close to becoming exposed in that strong wind shear environment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2007\/10\/071011_g12_vis_td15_anim.gif\" title=\"GOES-12 visible images (Animated GIF)\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2007\/10\/071011_g12_vis_td15_anim.gif\" title=\"GOES-12 visible images (Animated GIF)\" alt=\"GOES-12 visible images (Animated GIF)\" align=\"middle\" height=\"360\" width=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Hurricane Center began issuing advisories on Tropical Depression 15 (located in the central Atlantic, east of Bermuda) on 11 October 2007.
