Shisaldin late in the day on 15 September (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/54472\">Blog Post<\/a>) was accompanied by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Climatologist49\/status\/1702879578912661526?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1702879578912661526%7Ctwgr%5E47ef4b8e3da5c74f8cce133f8ea3ce8cd7796c1b%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fcimss.ssec.wisc.edu%2Fsatellite-blog%2Farchives%2F54472\">lightning<\/a>.  Shishaldin&#8217;s latitude is 54.75<sup>o<\/sup>N, very near the northern edge of the GOES-18 Geostationary Lightning Mapper&#8217;s (GLM&#8217;s) field of view, as shown in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov\/goes\/documents\/GLM_Quick_Guides_May_2019.pdf\">this Quick Guide<\/a>;  although most of Alaska is not sampled by the GLM instrument, parts of the Aleutians are, including the land surrounding Shishaldin.  The toggle below shows the SO<sub>2<\/sub> RGB at 0220 UTC and 1-minute Flash Extent Density at 0219 UTC on 16 September 2023.
