{"id":53279,"date":"2023-07-13T18:46:19","date_gmt":"2023-07-13T18:46:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/?p=53279"},"modified":"2023-07-13T18:46:19","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T18:46:19","slug":"geo-browser-adds-suvi-images","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/53279","title":{"rendered":"Geo-Browser Adds SUVI Images"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The University of Wisconsin-Madison&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/\">SSEC<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/datacenter\/\">Satellite Data Services<\/a> added <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nesdis.noaa.gov\/\">NOAA<\/a> GOES SUVI (Solar UV Imager) images, both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/data\/geo\/#\/animation?satellite=suvi-goes-16\">GOES-16<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/data\/geo\/#\/animation?satellite=suvi-goes-18\">GOES-18<\/a> (pulldown menu names: SUVI GOES-18 and SUVI GOES-18) to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/data\/geo\/#\/animation\">Geo-Browser<\/a>. More on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swpc.noaa.gov\/products\/goes-solar-ultraviolet-imager-suvi\">SUVI<\/a> can be found at NOAA&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swpc.noaa.gov\/\">Space Weather Prediction Center<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncei.noaa.gov\/products\/goes-r-solar-ultraviolet-imagers-suvi\">this site<\/a>. The first column is SUVI bands 1-3, the second column is 4-6; while the larger images is a RGB composite (of bands 6, 3 and 1).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Single Bands<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are six spectral bands on the SUVI; this <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/07\/suvi_uses-by-band.jpg\">table<\/a> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/users\/docs\/PUG-L1b-vol3.pdf\">Volume 3 PUG<\/a> shows the various uses. As well as still image bands <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/07\/suvi-goes-18_2023190_2301_FE093_sun.jpg\">1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/07\/suvi-goes-18_2023190_2301_FE131_sun.jpg\">2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/07\/suvi-goes-18_2023190_2258_FE171_sun.jpg\">3<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/07\/suvi-goes-18_2023190_2301_FE195_sun.jpg\">4<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/07\/suvi-goes-18_2023190_2258_FE284_sun.jpg\">5<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/07\/suvi-goes-18_2023190_2300_HE303_sun.jpg\">6<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">RGB Composites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Several of the single spectral bands are combined to generate 3-band Red-Green-Blue image composites.
