EUMETSAT Meteosat-9 Visible (0.64 \u00b5m, left) and Infrared Window (10.8 \u00b5m, right) images, 0100-1330 UTC on 10 June [click to play animated GIF | MP4<\/strong><\/a>]<\/p><\/div>Cyclone Biparjoy in the Arabian Sea began a period of rapid intensification late in the day on 09 June 2023, reaching Category 3 intensity by 12 UTC on 10 June (SATCON<\/strong><\/a>) — EUMETSAT<\/strong><\/a> Meteosat-9 Visible (0.64 \u00b5m) and Infrared Window (10.8 \u00b5m) images (above)<\/strong><\/em> showed Biparjoy during the 0100-1330 UTC period on 10 June 2023. A somewhat cloud-contaminated eye signature was evident in both the Visible and Infrared Meteosat-9 images, in addition to a Suomi-NPP VIIRS True Color RGB image (viewed using RealEarth<\/strong><\/a>) valid at 0747 UTC<\/strong><\/a> (below)<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

RCM-3 Synthetic Aperture Radar image at 0125 UTC on 10 June [click to enlarge]<\/p><\/div>The Category 3 intensity of Biparjoy was supported by 2 overpasses of RADARSAT Constellation Mission<\/strong><\/a> (RCM)-3 at 0125 UTC (above)<\/strong><\/em> and 1337 UTC (below)<\/strong><\/em> — with peak Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) radial wind velocities of 106 knots in the SE quadrant at 0125 UTC and 105 knots in the SE quadrant at 1337 UTC (source<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n
