Mesovortices within the eye were evident in Visible imagery, with the eye exhibiting a &#8220;stadium effect&#8221; geometry (two signatures that are often associated with intense tropical cyclones).<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 1321px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/05\/230525_0911utc_dmsp17_ssmis_microwave_Mawar.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/05\/230525_0911utc_dmsp17_ssmis_microwave_Mawar.png\" width=\"1311\" height=\"758\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">DMSP-17 SSMIS Microwave (85 GHz) image at 0911 UTC [click to enlarge]<\/p><\/div>A DMSP-17 SSMIS Microwave (85 GHz) image at 0911 UTC from the <a href=\"http:\/\/tropic.ssec.wisc.edu\"><strong>CIMSS Tropical Cyclones<\/strong><\/a> site <em><strong>(above)<\/strong><\/em> showed Mawar to the west of Guam, with a well-defined, completely closed eyewall along with a spiral band wrapping into the storm center from the south.
