Cloud-top infrared brightness temperatures reached -61\u00baC as the pyroCb cloud drifted eastward across Alberta.<\/p>\n<p>GOES-18 True Color RGB and <a href=\"https:\/\/rammb.cira.colostate.edu\/training\/visit\/quick_guides\/QuickGuide_GOESR_NtMicroRGB_Final_20191206.pdf\"><strong>Nighttime Microphysics RGB<\/strong><\/a> images from the <a href=\"https:\/\/geosphere.ssec.wisc.edu\/#playing:true;coordinate:0,0;satellite:goeswest;num_frames:40;\"><strong>CSPP GeoSphere<\/strong><\/a> site <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> showed the late-day pyroCb formation and its subsequent eastward motion after sunset.<\/p>\n<p><div style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/05\/goeswest_abi_radf_true_color_night_s20230519220021_e20230520075021_f60.mp4\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/05\/goeswest_abi_radf_true_color_night_20230520013021.png\" width=\"1024\" height=\"461\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-18 True Color RGB and Nighttime Microphysics RGB images [click to play MP4 animation]<\/p><\/div>VIIRS Infrared Window (11.45 \u00b5m) images from Suomi-NPP (valid at 0952 UTC) and NOAA-20 (valid at 1042 UTC) are shown below.
