The images above &#8212; also available as a <a title=\"QuickTime animation\" href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2010\/04\/2010_04_14_rooftop_camera_meteor.mov\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>QuickTime animation<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; were taken at 10 second intervals from a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/metobs-test.ssec.wisc.edu:8000\/aoss\/cameras\/\">rooftop camera<\/a><\/strong> <em>(facing to the west)<\/em> on the Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (<a title=\"AOS\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aos.wisc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>AOS<\/strong><\/a>) \/ Space Science and Engineering Center (<a title=\"SSEC\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>SSEC<\/strong><\/a>) building &#8212; a very bright flash is briefly seen (which also happens to illuminate 2 aircraft contrails aloft).<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s admittedly very subtle, but a comparison of a highly-enhanced nighttime visible image from the GOES-11 (GOES-West) satellite and a radar reflectivity image from the Davenport, Iowa WSR-88D <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> seems to corroborate the reports from the public of the meteor flash appearing to move &#8220;from west to east&#8221; (or in this case, from northwest to southeast).
