{"id":50914,"date":"2023-03-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-03-04T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/?p=50914"},"modified":"2023-03-07T03:45:27","modified_gmt":"2023-03-07T03:45:27","slug":"cyclone-kevin-reaches-category-4-intensity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/50914","title":{"rendered":"Cyclone Kevin reaches Category 4 intensity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Only 2 days after <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/50821\"><strong>Cyclone Judy<\/strong><\/a>, Cyclone Kevin traversed the far southern islands of Vanuatu on 03 March 2023 &#8212; and due to a favorable environment of <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/03\/230303_himawari9_infrared_1800utc_shear_Cyclone_Kevin_anim.gif\"><strong>low deep-layer wind shear<\/strong><\/a> coupled with <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/03\/230303_sst_Cyclone_Kevin.png\"><strong>warm Sea Surface Temperature<\/strong><\/a>, the storm reached Category 3 Intensity at 1800 UTC.
