There appears to be no obvious relationship between the wind structures and the brightness temperatures at this time.  However, an animation of the infrared imagery for the 3 hours before sunset, below, shows a similar north-south linear feature, in about the same place as the SAR winds, between 1000 and 1100 UTC.  (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/02\/G16Band13_Sentinel1AWinds-20230218_1036_1224toggle.gif\">Here&#8217;s a toggle of the 1224 UTC Sentinel winds and the 1036 UTC Band 13 imagery<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/02\/G16Band13-20230218_10-13z_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1196\" height=\"856\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/02\/G16Band13-20230218_10-13z_anim.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-50622\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">GOES-16 Clean Window infrared (Band 13, 10.3 \u00b5m) imagery, 1001 &#8211; 1301 UTC on 18 February 2023 (Click to enlarge)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1200 UTC surface analysis (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/02\/sfc021823_161001.gif\">click here<\/a>) from the 18th shows the Texas Gulf Coast near a ridge axis with easterly winds indicated.  However, the Sentinel-1A wind analysis, shown below (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov\/socd\/mecb\/sar\/AKDEMO_products\/APL_winds\/wind_images2\/sarwinds_daily_rcs.html?date=20230218\">from this website<\/a>;  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov\/socd\/mecb\/sar\/AKDEMO_products\/APL_winds\/wind_images2\/2023-02\/S1A_ESA_2023_02_18_12_24_37_0730038277_096.82W_25.96N_VV_C5_HRRR3KMCDF_wind.png\">direct link to image<\/a>), shows convergence into the line of stronger winds.  The normalized radar cross-section (NRCS) image (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/02\/S1A_ESA_2023_02_18_12_24_37_0730038277_096.82W_25.96N_VV_C_nrcs.png\">here<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov\/socd\/mecb\/sar\/AKDEMO_products\/APL_winds\/wind_images2\/2023-02\/S1A_ESA_2023_02_18_12_24_37_0730038277_096.82W_25.96N_VV_C_nrcs.png\">here at the NOAA\/STAR website<\/a>), from that same website, shows evidence of small-scale gravity waves on the western edge of the wind maxima.
