Freddy then briefly peaked at 145 knots at 0000 UTC on 16 February (<a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2023\/02\/230220_satcon_Freddy.png\"><strong>SATCON<\/strong><\/a>), making it the first Category 5 tropical cyclone of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Meteosat-9 Infrared Window (10.8 \u00b5m) images from the <a href=\"http:\/\/tropic.ssec.wisc.edu\/\"><strong>CIMSS Tropical Cyclones<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0site\u00a0<em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> included contours and streamlines of deep-layer (850-200 hPa)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tropic.ssec.wisc.edu\/misc\/winds\/info.winds.shr.html\"><strong>wind shear<\/strong><\/a>.
