One change was the increase in spatial resolution of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/spacesegment\/abi.html\"><strong>ABI<\/strong><\/a> Band 13 &#8220;Clean&#8221; Infrared Window (<a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/OCLOFactSheetPDFs\/ABIQuickGuide_Band13.pdf\"><strong>10.3 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) data from 6 km to the native 2 km (at satellite nadir) &#8212; as shown in an animation of imagery in the vicinity of a low pressure system located over northern Quebec, Canada <em><strong>(above)<\/strong><\/em>. A toggle between those &#8220;before&#8221; (1800 UTC) and &#8220;after&#8221; (1810 UTC) images is available <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/12\/221201_goes16_infrared_Canada_before_after_anim.gif\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>GOES-16 Infrared imagery in the tropics <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> displayed convection along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Intertropical_Convergence_Zone#:~:text=The%20Intertropical%20Convergence%20Zone%20(ITCZ,its%20specific%20position%20varies%20seasonally.\"><strong>ITCZ<\/strong><\/a>) in the East Pacific Ocean.
