A notable increase in the areal coverage of deep convection was seen around the center of Julia as it approached the coast, suggesting a trend of further intensification just prior to landfall.<\/p>\n<p>Julia was upgraded from a Tropical Storm to a Hurricane at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/archive\/2022\/al13\/al132022.update.10082259.shtml?\"><strong>2300 UTC<\/strong><\/a> on 08 October &#8212; an analysis of <a href=\"https:\/\/tropic.ssec.wisc.edu\/misc\/winds\/info.winds.shr.html\"><strong>deep-layer wind shear<\/strong><\/a> at that time from the <a href=\"http:\/\/tropic.ssec.wisc.edu\"><strong>CIMSS Tropical Cyclones<\/strong><\/a> site <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> indicated that Julia was moving through an environment of very low shear (which favored further intensification).
