thunderstorms over Guam on 05 October 2022 &#8212; as mentioned in the NWS Guam <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/10\/221005_pgum_afd.text\"><strong>Area Forecast<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Disc<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/10\/221005_pgum_afd.text\"><strong>ussion<\/strong><\/a>, these storms produced 2-3 inches of rainfall over parts of western\/central Guam (prompting the issuance of a Flood Advisory: <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/10\/221005_pgum_fls.text\"><strong>Text<\/strong><\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NWSGuam\/status\/1577531142227517440\"><strong>Tweet<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>This type of island-effect convection occurred because the typical easterly trade wind flow within the\u00a0 boundary layer was disrupted when a <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/10\/221005_surface_analysis_Guam.jpeg\"><strong>trough of low pressure<\/strong><\/a> became situated across the region, which led to a regime of light surface winds across the Mariana Islands <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> &#8212;
