The Wildhorse Fire caused a closure of US Highway 20, just west of Hill City, for a period of 12 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/wildhorsefire?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#wildhorsefire<\/a> has closed US- 20 near Pine Turnoff. The fire is currently about 20-25 miles west of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/fairfield?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#fairfield<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Idaho?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Idaho<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/idwx?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#idwx<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CIftSoHZdM\">pic.twitter.com\/CIftSoHZdM<\/a><\/p>&mdash; NWS Boise (@NWSBoise) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NWSBoise\/status\/1566592063784697856?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 5, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>The Ross Fork Fire burned very hot, with Shortwave Infrared (<a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes\/OCLOFactSheetPDFs\/ABIQuickGuide_Band07.pdf\"><strong>3.9 \u00b5m<\/strong><\/a>) infrared brightness temperatures reaching 137.88\u00baC (the saturation temperature of GOES-18 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/spacesegment\/abi.html\"><strong>ABI<\/strong><\/a> Band 7 detectors). For those hottest fire pixels, occasionally FDCA parameters (Fire Temperature, Fire Power, Fire Area and Fire Mask) were generated and displayable via AWIPS cursor sampling <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/09\/220905_0139z_rgb_processed_fire.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/09\/220905_0139z_rgb_processed_fire.png\" width=\"640\" height=\"310\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-18 Fire Temperature RGB image, with GOES-17 FDCA cursor values for a Processed Fire [click to enlarge]<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Note, however, that FDCA parameters were not displayable in AWIPS for Cloudy Fires (fires with partial obscuration by pyrocumulus clouds and\/or optically-thick smoke) or for Saturated Fires <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em>.
