The coldest pyroCb cloud-top 10.35 \u00b5m infrared brightness temperatures were around -55\u00baC, while the coldest pyroCb Cloud Top Temperature value was -59\u00baC.<\/p>\n<p>This wildfire burned very hot &#8212; the peak 3.9 \u00b5m infrared brightness temperature was 138.71\u00baC, which is the <span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">saturation temperature of&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/spacesegment\/abi.html\"><strong><span class=\"r-18u37iz\"><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\" dir=\"ltr\">ABI<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">&nbsp;Band 7 detecto<\/span>rs.<\/p>\n<p>During the subsequent overnight hours, a toggle between NOAA-20 VIIRS Day\/Night Band (0.7 \u00b5m) and Shortwave Infrared (3.74 \u00b5m) images valid at 1039 UTC <span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> or 3:39 AM PDT <em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> showed the bright nighttime glow and hot thermal signature of active fires around the perimeter of the large McKinney Fire<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> burn sca<\/span>r.&nbsp; Evacuation orders were in effect for portions of Yreta west of Interstate 5.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/07\/220731_1039utc_noa20_viirs_shortwaveInfrared_dayNightBand_McKinney_Fire_CA_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/07\/220731_1039utc_noa20_viirs_shortwaveInfrared_dayNightBand_McKinney_Fire_CA_anim.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"310\"><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">NOAA-20 VIIRS Day\/Night Band (0.7 \u00b5m) and Shortwave Infrared (3.74 \u00b5m) images valid at 1039 UTC [click to enlarge]<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1-minute Mesoscale Domain Sector GOES-17 (GOES-West) \u201cRed\u201d Visible (0.64 \u00b5m), Fire Temperature RGB, &#8220;Clean&#8221; Infrared Window (10.35 \u00b5m) and Cloud Top Temperature derived product images (above) showed that the rapidly-growing McKinney Fire in far northern California produced multiple (5 or 6) pulses of pyrocumulonimbus (pyroCb) clouds late in the day on 30 July 2022.
