The animation above (from <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/turbulence\/\">this website<\/a>) shows an axis of maximum probabilities to the northeast of Hawai&#8217;i.  Two pilot reports of turbulence are plotted in that axis, one near <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/04\/MOGProbability_0900_5April2022crop.png\">0910 UTC<\/a>, one near <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/04\/MOGProbability_0950_5April2022crop.png\">1000 UTC<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The upper-level water vapor imagery associated with this feature is shown below.  The GOES-17 upper-level water vapor imagery displayed below is showing the effects of the poor functionality of the Loop Heat Pipe (you can investigate more on this topic <a href=\"http:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/goes-r\/abi-\/band_statistics_imagery.html\">here<\/a>).  In this animation, that effect is manifest by flickering in the image (that is especially noteable around 11 UTC).
