Fire Temperature and Fire Power products <em><strong>(above) <\/strong><\/em>displayed signatures of the large Bertha Swamp Road Fire and a smaller Adkins Avenue Fire near Panama City in the Florida Panhandle on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov\/dailywxmap\/index_20220306.html\"><strong>06 March 2022<\/strong><\/a>. With the Bertha Swamp Road Fire,<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> 3.9 \u00b5m Shortwave Infrared brightness temperatures reached 138.71\u00baC &#8212; the saturation temperature of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/spacesegment\/abi.html\"><strong><span class=\"r-18u37iz\"><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\" dir=\"ltr\">ABI<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> Band 7 detectors &#8212; the derived Fire Temperature maximum value was 2287.24 K, and Fire Power values peaked at 1440 MW. The Fire Temperature and Fire Power derived products are components of the GOES Fire Detection and Characterization Algorithm <a href=\"http:\/\/rammb.cira.colostate.edu\/training\/visit\/training_sessions\/goes_r_fire_surface_properties\/video\/presentation_html5.html?lms=1\"><strong>FDCA<\/strong><\/a>.<br><\/span><\/p>\n<p>GOES-16 True Color RGB images created using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssec.wisc.edu\/software\/geo2grid\/\"><strong>Geo2Grid<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;<em><strong>(below)<\/strong><\/em> showed smoke-laden pyrocumulus clouds (created by the very hot Bertha Swamp Road Fire), which rose above the level of boundary layer cumulus cloud streets that were moving inland across the area.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/03\/220306_goes16_trueColorRGB_FL_wildfires_anim.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/03\/GOES-16_ABI_RadC_true_color_2022065_215617Z.png\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\"><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">GOES-16 True Color RGB images [click to play animated GIF | <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/images\/2022\/03\/220306_goes16_trueColorRGB_FL_wildfires_anim.mp4\"><strong>MP4<\/strong><\/a>]<\/p><\/div>\n<p>These fires were occurring in an area affected by the <a href=\"https:\/\/cimss.ssec.wisc.edu\/satellite-blog\/archives\/30185\"><strong>landfall of Hurricane Michael<\/strong><\/a> in 2018 &#8212; where a large amount of downed trees (within the shades of tan to light brown shown below on 18 October 2018) still remained.
